SSH Portal questions, answered

Do I need an SSH client or any local software?

No. The PulseGuard SSH Portal runs entirely in your browser using a WebSocket-to-SSH proxy. There is nothing to install on your laptop — any modern browser on any OS works.

What is Quantum Shield and how is the connection encrypted?

Quantum Shield is PulseGuard's label for the AES-256-GCM authenticated encryption applied to every SSH session. AES-256-GCM provides both confidentiality and message integrity, and all key material is held server-side — your SSH private keys are never sent to your browser.

Are sessions recorded, and how long are recordings kept?

Yes. Every interactive session is recorded at the terminal level (a precise input/output log) and stored as a replayable audit trail. Retention depends on your plan — 30 days on Pro, 90 days on Business, and configurable on Enterprise.

Can I stream logs to the browser without opening a full interactive shell?

Yes. The log-streaming feature pipes journalctl, /var/log/nginx/access.log, syslog or any file path into a read-only live view — no shell access is granted, so you can give read-only operators log visibility without SSH permission.

How does access control work across teams?

PulseGuard uses role-based access with 10 granular permissions. You can grant one role interactive SSH, another read-only log streaming, and a third nothing at all. Revoke access from a single panel and it takes effect immediately — no key rotation required.
